EVERETT STEELHEAD AND SALMON CLUB BOARD MEETING OCTOBER 9, 2008 OPENING: Ben Bear opened the meeting at 7:00. Brett read the minutes and they were accepted as read. Rich gave the Treasurers Report and they too were accepted as read. Buz reported that we have 141 members. MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Bourgeois, Henry McCormick, Walt Eckman, Jack Blair, Woody, Bill Skinner, Doug Olson, John Wayne, John Kulgis, Tim Roberts, Dave Kuno, Van Kuno, Dan Tierney, Buz Bauman, Kelli Mack, Rich Braun, Ben Bear, Brett Simbe OLD BUSINESS: Brett was contacted by the person who purchased the Bulb Planting that the club offered at the CCA banquet and he will get more detail of the when to plant and it will be in Edmonds. Bill reported that the raffle is up $321.00 for the year. Van said there was nothing to report on the Food Committee. John Wayne opened the floor to discuss the Food Committee and his concerns. The topic was discussed by many and John Wayne made a motion to dissolve the Food Committee and Buz seconded the motion it was voted on and passed by a vote of 7 in favor and 6 against. So the Food Committee is now dissolved. Walt reported that the Port has no winter moorage available. Woody reported that the Snohomish sportsman Club is saying that the Index shooting range may not be approved. He also said they are working on a dock project for both Flowing Lake and Blackman Lake. Ben reported for Carl that the September 25th meeting for the new CCA chapter in Marysville had around 15 people in attendance. He also reported that the Coho Derby sold 1841 tickets and weighed around 250 fish. He also said that most of the sponsors were committed for next year. Jim Brauch was not in attendance as he was celebrating his birthday so no PSA or ESSC Youth report. Ben said that Derek Anderson of Screamin Reels Guide Service would be our October speaker and Toby Black would talk in November. Our Christmas Party is scheduled for December 6th and the church has requested a walk thru to be scheduled. Henry is going to take care of the turkeys and hams and Buz is going to work on a phone list to call members for Pot Luck items for them to bring. Walt made a motion for $250 to be given to purchase the food, Kelli seconded it and it was voted on and passed. Buz offered to run the food committee for the party. The next topic was the Election of Officers and Board Members. Ben supplied a list of Board Members and when the terms expire that will be put into the records. All officer positions are going to be vacant and volunteers are needed. Novembers General Meeting is the Smoked Salmon contest and it was discussed and decided that it will be the General Election as well. Ben asked if there was interest in doing the Blackmouth Derby again in March but we had no one volunteer. Walt asked about a possible Lifetime membership for one of our members for all his work with the club. It was decided that more discussion was need by the Lifetime Membership committee.
